About the Author
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (1869-1948) was an Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist, and political ethicist who employed nonviolent civil disobedience to lead India to independence from British rule. He is also known as Mahatma Gandhi, which means "Great Soul." Gandhi's ideas and methods have been widely adopted by civil rights and anti-war movements around the world.
